Media Miss by the right: Scott calls video of Obamas shared by Trump ‘most racist thing I’ve seen’ out of White House
Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C., sharply criticized a controversial video shared to Trump’s Truth Social account that depicted former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama as apes. The post has since been removed.
In a social media post on Friday, Scott called it “the most racist thing I’ve seen out of this White House” and urged that it be taken down.
In a statement after the post was removed, the White House said a “staffer erroneously made the post.”
Media Miss by the left: Trump admin probes Tufts for claims it shared student data for elections
The Trump administration is investigating Tufts University and the National Student Clearinghouse over claims that student data was shared to influence elections.
The Department of Education’s Student Privacy Policy Office is examining whether Tufts’ National Study of Learning, Voting, and Engagement – which partners with the Clearinghouse – shared data with third-party political organizations that “aim to influence elections” in violation of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act.
Tufts has argued that institutions are permitted to use de-identified enrollment data matched with publicly available voter files.
The office’s director, Frank Miller, has instructed institutions to pause use of this year’s data from the study and warned colleges and universities nationwide that continued use could prompt enforcement actions, including cease-and-desist orders and the withholding of federal funds.
