Dashcam footage has been released showing a Tennessee state trooper nearly being pinned between vehicles after another driver struck his cruiser during a traffic stop, authorities said. The trooper was not seriously injured.

The incident occurred last week in Davidson County, Tennessee, on Interstate 40, where a trooper had stopped a vehicle traveling 97 mph in a 70 mph zone, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol. Snow was still present along the shoulders of the roadway at the time.

Authorities said a second vehicle struck the trooper’s patrol car seconds after the stop, nearly trapping the trooper between the cruiser, a guardrail, and the stopped vehicle. The patrol said the trooper was able to walk away from the crash.

It was not immediately clear whether the driver who was stopped for speeding or the driver of the vehicle that struck the cruiser were injured.

“When you see emergency lights, SLOW DOWN and MOVE OVER. It’s not just the law,” the Tennessee Highway Patrol said. “As you see here, it could be a matter of life and death for the men and women who put themselves in harm’s way to keep Tennessee roads safe.”

Authorities said the crash remains under investigation.
