Authorities in Bexar County, Texas, have identified the body found during a search near a residential area as missing 19-year-old Camila Mendoza Olmos, according to officials. The medical examiner ruled her death a suicide.

The identification was announced Wednesday by the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office, which said the decedent found during an open-field search in the 10000 block of FM 1560 was Camila Mendoza Olmos.

The office said the cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head and that the death was ruled a suicide.

The body was discovered Tuesday afternoon at around 4:40 to 4:45 p.m. in a field a few hundred yards from Olmos’s home, according to Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar. Salazar noted that self-harm had been among the possibilities considered while the investigation was ongoing.

Salazar said the body was located by a joint search team from the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office and the FBI after investigators decided to recheck an area that had been searched earlier. He said tall grass limited visibility during previous searches, and the body was found about 10 minutes after teams returned to the area.

A firearm was found very near the body, which investigators had been searching for after it was reported missing from a family member, Salazar said.

Olmos was reported missing from her home in Bexar County on Christmas Eve, according to KENS. A CLEAR Alert was issued on Christmas Day and later discontinued Tuesday evening by the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Bexar County is located in south-central Texas and includes the city of San Antonio.
