Suspect in Brown University shooting found dead in New Hampshire
The suspect in the shooting at Brown University that killed two students and injured nine others has been found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to law enforcement sources cited by Fox News.
The discovery was made on Thursday following a police operation at a storage facility in Salem, New Hampshire, according to Fox News correspondent Brooke Taylor. Salem is located in southern New Hampshire, near the Massachusetts border, north of Boston.
Authorities had been searching the area after locating the suspect’s abandoned vehicle nearby and obtaining an arrest warrant at the facility, Taylor reported. She later said sources told her the suspect was found dead inside.
The mass shooting occurred shortly after 4 p.m. on Saturday inside the Barus & Holley Engineering Building on the Brown University campus in Providence, Rhode Island, according to authorities.
Two students were killed in the shooting and nine other people were wounded, officials said. The victims who were killed were identified as Ella Cook and Mukhammad Aziz Umurzokov, according to authorities.
Authorities have not released additional details about the suspect or the motive for the attack. A press briefing is scheduled later tonight.
