‘Very appropriate’: Trump unveils renovation to the Lincoln bathroom
President Donald Trump announced he completed renovations on the bathroom inside the Lincoln Bedroom. The renovations are among many Trump has announced he’s completed or started, with the largest and most recent being the demolition of the White House’s East Wing.
The president announced the remodeling in a post on his Truth Social account, saying the old look was “totally inappropriate for the Lincoln Era.”
How did Trump renovate the Lincoln bathroom?
Trump said he made it feel authentic by replacing the light green walls and white tile floors with black-and-white marble.
“This was very appropriate for the time of Abraham Lincoln,” the president wrote in his post. “In fact, could be the marble that was originally there!”

The photo also shows a walk-in shower and large tub, both with gold accents.
Trump did not say how much the renovations cost.
What is the Lincoln Bedroom?
The bathroom is connected to the Lincoln Bedroom, which is part of the guest suite on the second floor of the White House. It was named after President Abraham Lincoln, since he used the room as his office.
While other administrations have renovated the room, the most recent major construction was in 1949, when the entire White House underwent reconstruction.
The White House reserves the room for guests of the president.
What other changes has Trump made to the White House?
This isn’t the only change Trump has made to the White House during his second term. When he first returned to office in January, Trump renovated and redecorated the Oval Office, which is standard for most presidents.
His changes included a new white presidential rug, several more portraits covering most of the walls, several historic golden urns from the White House’s collection and gold embellishments throughout the room.
Trump brought the golden, regal theme he is known for to most of his renovation projects. The new $300 million ballroom, which will replace the recently demolished East Wing, will also carry that theme.
In August, Trump unveiled completed renovations to the Rose Garden. The $1.9 million renovations included replacing the grass lawn with tiles and adding outdoor seating.
Near the Rose Garden is also another one of Trump’s recent constructions, his Presidential Walk of Fame, which he unveiled in September. The area has portraits of all the presidents except for former President Joe Biden, who instead has a portrait of an autopen. This is alluding to Republicans’ criticisms of Biden, who used an autopen to sign presidential documents.
Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., has started an investigation into his use of the device. However, many politicians have used similar devices before, including Comer and Trump.
