Delta jets collide on taxiway at LaGuardia; minor injury reported

Two Delta regional jets collided on the ground at LaGuardia Airport in New York on Wednesday night. The two planes reportedly collided while taxiing.
Delta Air Lines called the incident a “low-speed collision.” It said the wing of flight 5155, taxiing for takeoff to Roanoke, struck the fuselage of Endeavor Air Flight 5047 arriving from Charlotte. Endeavor is a Delta subsidiary.
Collision details
The incident happened just before 10 p.m. on a taxiway, not the runway, and didn’t impact airport operations, according to CBS News.
Delta told CBS that a flight attendant suffered a minor injury. EMTs treated the person on the scene and then took them to a local hospital.
Flight 5155 was carrying 32 people, comprised of 28 passengers and four crew members. Flight 5047 had 61 people on board, including 57 passengers.
All of the passengers, none of whom were injured, were escorted off the planes and put on shuttles.
Photos and videos circulate online
Pictures from passengers online show substantial damage to both planes.
A CBS News employee was on one of the planes involved in the collision. He shared a video on social media of first responders arriving on the taxiway.
The cause of the crash is currently unknown. However, Delta said it is working with investigators and has promised to take care of those affected.
“Delta teams at our New York-LaGuardia hub are working to ensure our customers are taken care of after two Delta Connection aircraft operated by Endeavor Air were involved in a low-speed collision during taxi,” Delta said in a statement. “Delta will work with all relevant authorities to review what occurred as safety of our customers and people comes before all else. We apologize to our customers for the experience.”
