One man was killed and three other people were wounded after a fight over a parking space escalated into a shooting inside a downtown Seattle parking garage, according to police and local media.

The shooting occurred around 1:30 a.m. Sunday in the 500 block of Second Avenue at the Sinking Ship parking garage in downtown Seattle, near the Pioneer Square area, police said.

Patrol officers found a man with a fatal gunshot wound to the head, and the Seattle Fire Department pronounced him dead at the scene. Police said a second victim, a man, suffered life-threatening injuries and was treated at the scene before being transported to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition.

A third victim, a woman, was treated for a graze wound and taken to the same hospital in stable condition. A fourth victim, also a woman, later arrived with a graze wound and was listed in stable condition.

Detectives determined that a physical fight broke out inside the parking garage and escalated into a gunfight involving multiple people. “At this time, we believe multiple people were shooting,” Detective Muñoz said.

Witnesses told KOMO News that the fight may have started over a parking space inside the garage.

Two people were arrested later at the scene for disturbances, but Muñoz said those arrests are unrelated to the homicide investigation. No suspects were in custody in connection with the shooting as of Sunday evening.

Anyone with information was asked to call the Seattle Police Violent Crimes Tip Line at 206-233-5000.
